Microsoft BackOffice Server 2000, the leading comprehensive server suite for the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, reduces the cost and complexity of building, deploying, and managing integrated and scalable IT solutions for your branch office, department, and medium-sized business. This release integrates Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and the latest standard versions of the component products, providing a wide range of infrastructure and application services including directory, networking, Web application, database, messaging and collaboration, Internet proxy and firewall, host integration, and Windows desktop management. BackOffice Server facilitates deploying and managing a consistent server infrastructure across your organization with an integrated, scenario-based setup program and an unattended setup mode. The integrated BackOffice Server Management Console, built on the Microsoft Management Console framework, offers suite administration with customizable task pads and easy-to-use wizards for managing Microsoft Active Directory queries, users, groups, Exchange Server mailboxes, network shares, and more. In addition, the suite includes many new deployment and management integration features including the MultiServer Planning Wizard and configuration option, remote server administration, server health monitoring and troubleshooting, server status views and reports, online tours, and the Internet Connection Wizard. New communications services include the Shared Modem Service and Shared Fax Service. BackOffice Server also includes the Microsoft Outlook 2000 messaging and collaboration client, and a single-user license for the Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Web site creation and management tool. MICROSOFT OPEN LICENSE VOLUME PROGRAM Microsoft Open License is a software volume licensing program designed for corporate, government, charity, and academic customers who order as few as five licenses. After the initial order, customers can benefit from volume pricing for all licenses for the remainder of the term of their Open License authorization number.
