Lotus Components are fast, focused business applets, based on ActiveX (formerly OCX) technology, designed for Lotus Notes end users and application developers. Lotus Components allow Notes end users to select and activate task-specific applets from within their familiar Notes environment, reducing the need to exit Notes and launch separate applications in order to complete tasks. Notes application developers can quickly and easily insert Lotus Components into their applications. Then if they choose, they can program them using LotusScript and Notes/FX to quickly and powerfully enhance their Notes applications. Lotus Components Release 1.2 offers enhanced features such as security and access control to prevent unauthorized application design changes, as well as event handling, an easy way for developers to build applications to respond to end user actions. This new release is compatible with Notes Release 4.6. Lotus Components Release 1.2 also offers simpler Notes/FX set-up and new programmability extensions that expose the components' properties and methods enabling greater customization. Lotus Components Release 1.2 features a consistent user interface, enhanced printing capabilities, additional chart types and the ability to import and export Microsoft Project files with the Project Scheduler component.
