Alcatel's Authentication Services (AS) capability enables users to access networking environments based on one of two pre-defined authentication criteria: user authentication provides network access to individual users based on their user ID and password; and device authentication that allows a specific device to have access to the network only if the device's MAC address and network address or protocol match those configured for that switch port.
