Following the success of the VAIO Desktop RX400s, Sony is extending the range with a new RX500 Series models. The stylish looks and functional design of these latest additions to Sony's consumer PC line-up echo the visual and practical appeal of past models, yet the RX500s offer so much more. Many include a unique Read/Write drive that supports both the DVD-RW and DVD+RW formats - a world-first in a desktop. This internal device allows for the creation and playback of all DVD-types, allowing users to take full advantage of a DVD's 4.7 GB of storage capacity and to maximize their audio and video enjoyment. The RX500 Series models also boast a fast processor and high-end graphics card, external stereo speakers and the connectivity options needed to deliver a variety of Communication, Creation and Entertainment solutions to users. The RX500 Series feature either an Intel Pentium chip (2.4 GHz to 2.8 GHz) or AMD Athlon XP processor (2400+ to 2600+) that's complemented by 256 MB RAM (on all models) and a hard disk from 60 GB to 120 GB, which benefit from a disc speed of 7200 rpm - ideal for enjoying movies, music and stills to the full. All models have an integrated NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 3D graphics card (with 64 MB Video RAM) that will deliver high-impact visuals once a display is connected (no monitor is supplied with these models). In terms of the optical drive, the RX500s all feature two optical drives: DVD±RW / CD-ROM or DVD±RW / DVD-ROM.
