The PLEXWRITER 8/2/20, Plextor's high-performance CD ReWritable drive, provides professional quality CD performance for writing, rewriting and reading. With the PLEXWRITER 8/2/20, users experience uncompromising dependability and performance. At 8X recording speeds, 74 minutes of data can be reliably archived in under 10 minutes to CD-R media. Plus, the PLEXWRITER 8/2/20 offers the added convenience of writing, erasing, and rewriting to CD-RW media. The PLEXWRITER 8/2/20 writes to CD-R media at 8X and reads CD-R and CD-ROM media at a minimum of 9X and maximum of 20X with 170ms average access time. At these speeds, the PLEXWRITER is a great replacement for older CD-ROM drives. In addition, it writes to CD-RW media at 2X and reads CD-RW at a very fast 8X speed. Reliable CD writing and rewriting is practically a guarantee with the PLEXWRITER 8/2/20's Fast SCSI burst rates, low CPU utilization, large buffer, dust protection, vibration dampening, added cooling and synchronous data transfer --- it all adds up to worry free CD writing. To further enhance reliable writes, once blank CD-R or CD-RW media is recognized by the drive's circuitry, the PLEXWRITER 8/2/20 automatically adjusts to provide the optimum laser power and length of burn for that particular media. CD-RW drives also support UDF writable file system implemented through packet writing on both CD-R and CD-RW media. Packet writing brings drag & drop simplicity to CD-R and CD-RW - a true super floppy that at 8X bests a Zip drive in speed and capacity. The result is least expensive removable and shareable media available. Users can simply drag and drop a file to the PLEXWRITER 8/2/20 and share it with their colleagues, then later continue adding files and sharing the same CD disc.
