 The IBM FAStT200 Storage Server provides flexible and affordable storage. The FAStT200 is designed for workgroup and departmental servers that require an external storage solution. Fiber Channel is a technology similar to a high-speed network that you can use to connect large amounts of disk storage to a server or a cluster of servers. Fiber Channel technology delivers increased performance, scalability and availability. This technology supports applications that require large amounts of disk storage that is shared by two or more servers. With Fiber Channel, you can see a higher throughput rate over longer distances than is possible with small computer system interface (SCSI) or with serial storage architecture (SSA) technology. The storage server provides for the attachment of Fiber Channel disk drives to give superior performance and redundancy. It's designed for easy service. Hot-plug components, Light-Path Diagnostics and Customer Replaceable Units are used throughout to minimize downtime and service costs. It can be upgraded for high-availability applications by installing an optional IBM FAStT200 Redundant RAID Controller.
