DIVA Connect Software Option is designed for corporate accounts that need enhanced ISDN functionality above and beyond the standard features of the DIVA ISDN adapter. Remote workers need ISDN connectivity that is transparent and automated; their focus is on the applications they need to do their job, not understanding the communications technology. DIVA Connect Software Option is ISDN client software that reduces ISDN connection costs by automatically bringing up and down ISDN B channels as needed. This frees the user from the task of manually connecting and disconnecting, which they get when using Microsoft's Dialup Networking. With DIVA Connect Software Option connecting an ISDN channel takes one or two seconds, so the user perceives almost no delay if the connection is down at the moment they request some data. The user experiences a virtual connection where the link appears to be "always on", but the link is in fact under direct application control. Inactivity timers and spoofing ensure that physical connections are used only when needed, thus reducing connection costs. With DIVA Connect Software Option, telecommuters and mobile users utilizing Eicon DIVA cards can quickly and reliably connect to corporate resources over ISDN, almost like being in the office. Other applications include kiosks and lottery terminals, where the ISDN connection must be transparent and under the control of the software.
