The EHW-5224U is a high speed USB 2.0 CD-ReWritable storage drive that is designed with a fashion styling of portable drive. It can go wherever you go to attach a storage drive to a computer or notebook in your office, home, factory floor. Installation is quick and simple. Just Link technology overcomes many of the issues in 24x and higher writing speeds to CDs. Since the user's computer may be interrupted for other tasks, CD writing is often interrupted, and the CD write buffer depletes itself. JustLink technology can prevent under-runs by predicting when they may occur and then taking control of the writing process, intentionally interrupting the write cycle until the buffer refills and writing can resume exactly where it left off, hence the name Just Link. Just Link technology minimizes the write gap to only 2 microns. JustSpeed is the function that prevents writing error when high writing speed (24x or faster) is selected. When "Just Speed" is on, the drive decides the most appropriate writing speed according to the result of medium calibration and writes with the speed. This function is changeable in "mode select command", and the default setting is "Just Speed" is on. Mount Rainier enables native OS support of data storage on CD-RW. This makes the technology far easier to use and allows the replacement of the floppy. Having defect management in the drive, by making the drive 2k addressable, by using background formatting, and by standardizing both command set and physical layout, does this. AOpen's EHW-5224U CD-ReWriter drive offers unprecedented performance to handle today's demands by reading CDs at up to 52X speed, writing CD-R disk at super 52X and CD-RW disks at fastest 24X speed. EHW-5224U writes a 650 MB CD-R disk within about 3 minutes. The EHW-5224U is an ideal all-in-one solution for reading CDs, copying audio/software CDs, creating photo/audio/video CDs, or acting as a storage drive for archiving or backup. The drive comes complete with everything you need to make CDs right away, including bundled software and blank CDs. You can write and read large data files as easily as you would from floppies. The EHW-5224U supports all major CD formats, offering the user full backward-compatibility through the huge installed base of CD-ROM drives and media.
