The Fiber Tape Automation Adapter allows tape backup capability of data farms supported in xSeries Fiber Channel (FC) installations. This means that data stored miles from the xSeries server can be protected with high-speed tape backup at or near the server location. This provides a high level of data protection for mission critical applications in storage area network (SAN) environments. The Fiber Tape Automation Adapter is supported with either of the 3600 series LTO tape libraries. It acts as an FC router to provide direct attachment to supported FC host adapters.
