Designed for use in small to mid-sized businesses, Retrospect Multi Server provides thorough, fast backups, and powerful, accurate Smart Restores of networked file servers, line-of-business application servers, desktops, and notebook computers. Retrospect protects against loss due to viruses, newly installed software, user error, damaged hardware, hardware upgrades, hackers, and lost or stolen computers for the utmost in safety and security. Don't worry about deciding when to perform full, incremental, or differential backups - Retrospect's Progressive Backup technology takes care of that for you. Restore without getting back unwanted deleted, renamed, and moved files, a problem other backup software avoids only with repeated full backups that waste time and media space. Not just best-in-class backup for servers, Retrospect also offers complete protection of data on desktops and notebook computers - an advanced feature missing from other backup software. The optional Proactive Client Backup system automates the backup process to ensure that all computers get backed up without requiring administrator intervention. Additionally, notebook computers are detected when they connect to the network, and automatically prioritized for backup. Retrospect's unique optional multi-volume Open File Backup capability means you can back up line-of-business applications such as databases, e-mail, CRM, accounting, ERP, Web sites, and directories while live and in operation. Competing backup solutions cannot capture opened files on multiple volumes simultaneously, so they are ineffective for backing up live line of business applications that use more than one volume. The optional Disaster Recovery Wizard creates a bootable CD image from the backup even after the computer to be restored has died. Other disaster recovery solutions require you to create disaster recovery CDs while everything is still working - before you need them. Hard drives hold a lot of data. To optimize backups, Retrospect recognizes identical files on one or more computers and backs up just one copy. In addition, selectors let you filter the types of files that get backed up. Optionally, compress files with software or hardware compression. Easily locate files for restores - even if you're not sure on which backup media they reside.
